Find Your IELTS Overall Band Score
The Band Score for each module is equally weighted. Your overall band score is rounded to the nearest whole or half band.
International English Language Testing System is scored on a nine-band score. All IELTS modules bands are between 0 and 9 Scale. Your Overall Band Score is the average of your four-module scores (listening section, reading section, writing section and speaking section), rounded to the nearest whole or half band score of IELTS test. All IELTS modules have fixed(0-9) weighted.
There are four sections of the IELTS Exam test, the average of the 4sections ends in .25, then the Overall Score is rounded up to the next half band. and it’s ended 0.75 then band score increase to next round figure (Ex:- your band average 6.75 then you will get 7 bands in end result).
Let’s understand practically with some example. How to calculate the IELTS band?.
- Listening 6.5 + Reading 6.5 + Writing 5 + Speaking 7 = 25
Divide 25 by 4 = 6.25
Ends in .25 so round up to the next half band
Overall band score = 6.5
- Listening 6.5 + Reading 6.5 + Writing 5.5 + Speaking 6.0 = 24.5
Divide 24.5 by 4 = 6.125
Ends with a fraction below .25 so round down to the next whole band
Overall band score = 6.0
- Listening 4.0 + Reading 3.5 + Writing 4.0 + Speaking 4.0 = 19.5
Divide 19.5 by 4 = 3.875
Ends with a fraction above .75 so round up to the next whole band
Overall band score = 4.0
